A two-day investment forum of Turkmen manufacturers and entrepreneurs on the production of import-substituting products for the transport and communication complex of the country has come to a successful conclusion in Ashgabat. This is the first forum of such kind aimed at strengthening and upgrading the material and technical facilities of the field by attracting domestic investments of small and medium business.
Representatives of joint-stock companies of specialized agencies and Turkmen manufacturers of products in the field of transport and communications have participated in this forum. In the format of plenary meeting and “round tables”, a wide range of issues related to the expansion of the production of import-substituting products in the country have been discussed. Including in particular the issues regarding complete overhauling of railway stock, both cargo and passenger, the construction and modernization of freight yards on railway lines, in order to arrange the production of freight containers, cellular sim cards, batteries and cables for communication systems. The digitalization of services between consignors and consigners became a separate subject of this forum.
The development and strengthening of public-private partnership today is one of the policy priorities of the President of Turkmenistan within the context of the transition toward a market economy and the implementation of comprehensive social and economic programs. Taking into account the importance of the transport and communication complex in the national economy and strengthening the role of Turkmenistan as the most important transport and transit corridor and an international cross-road of trade continental routes, attraction of private investment of domestic businesses into this infrastructure is more than of essential interest.
The development of transport infrastructure is of great interest to logistics companies as well. Representatives of “Turkmen Logistics” Association took an active part in all plenary meetings.
