Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov reported to the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov that the Resolution “Strengthening the links between all modes of transport to achieve stable and reliable international transport for sustainable development during and after the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic” initiated by Turkmenistan was adopted in the framework of the 96th plenary assembly of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly. The Resolution was cosponsored by 48 states. This was reported by the “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that among the key tasks of this special Resolution were the intensification of the efforts of the international community to reduce the risks arising now in the world economy, in particular in the transport sector, as well as creation of a specialized legal framework in this direction.
Cordially congratulating the President of Turkmenistan on this significant event, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan wished the Turkmen leader further outstanding successes in his versatile activity for the benefit of the people and the Fatherland.
Expressing satisfaction with the news, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov first of all congratulated compatriots on the adoption of the Resolution “Strengthening the links between all modes of transport to achieve stable and reliable international transport for sustainable development during and after the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic” by the UN General Assembly.
The Resolution, unanimously adopted by 193 UN member states, including 48 co-authors, testifies to the practical implementation of the initiatives put forward by the Turkmen side at the 75th session of the General Assembly.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that on December 7, 2020, the UN General Assembly unanimously adopted the Resolution “The role and importance of a policy of neutrality in maintaining and strengthening international peace, security and sustainable development”.
The Turkmen leader noted that on April 16, 2021, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Resolution “The Role of the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia”, and on July 29, 2021 – the Resolution “Strengthening the links between all modes of transport to achieve stable and reliable international transport for sustainable development during and after the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic”. It is called upon to play an important role in strengthening multi-vector cooperation in the transport sector at the global and regional levels, as well as in searching for positive solutions to key issues in this area, creating and developing international transport and transit corridors. Moreover, this Resolution will contribute to the fight against the coronavirus pandemic around the world.
Taking the opportunity, the President of Turkmenistan assured compatriots and the entire world community that independent neutral Turkmenistan would continue to make a significant contribution to the development of international cooperation.
In conclusion, the President of Turkmenistan once again cordially congratulated everyone on the new foreign policy victory of Turkmenistan and wished good health, longevity and success in work in the name of the prosperity of the beloved Motherland.
