The Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan organized a Conference on the topic “The Importance of International Cooperation in the field of Transport to Strengthen Peace and Trust” on November the 24th, 2021. The executive heads of “Turkmendemiryollary”, “Turkmenhovayollary”, “Turkmenavtoulaglary”, “Turkmendenizderyayollary” Agencies as well as the management staff of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, the representatives of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, private structures and the mass media have participated at this Forum.
Topical issues of interstate cooperation in the development of international transport corridors, cooperation with international organizations in creating favorable conditions for sustainable development of the transport sector, as well as creating facilitated conditions for landlocked countries to use the possibilities of international transport corridors have been discussed during the issue-related meeting.
Particular attention was paid to the role of the North-South International Transport Corridor operating in the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway communication in the development of the transport and transit potential of Turkmenistan, expanding cooperation between the regions of the world by harmonizing the conditions of competition, uniting the markets for freight and cargo transportation services and promoting the process of globalization. Besides, the issues of international cooperation for the achievement of sustainable development in the field of air communications and issues of integration into the global market of communication systems for digital commerce and post have been discussed.
At the conference, the representative of the “Turkmen Logistics” Association talked about the role of logistics companies in increasing the economic efficiency of the country and attracting additional cargo flows.
