A videoconference was held on the development of transit potential of Turkmenistan.

On March 16, 2022, Coordination Center for International Container Block Trains of China Communications and Transport Association together with the “Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan” OJSC, organized an online conference on the development of the international multimodal corridor “China – Kazakhstan/Tajikistan – Turkmenistan – the Caspian Sea – Europe”. Representatives of the “Turkmen Logistics” Association also took part in the conference.
During the conference, Che Tanlai, Deputy Director of the Consulting Center for International Container Block Train Service of the China Transport Communications Association, made a speech and spoke about the circumstances of running containers from China to Europe at the present time. The main topic on the agenda was the establishment of profitable routes through Turkmenistan towards Europe.
For the full implementation of multimodal corridor, Turkmenistan has all the necessary infrastructure for rail freight, and the International Sea Port of Turkmenbashi is able to handle 400,000 containers every year, which completely allows the Turkmen part of the freight to be carried out smoothly.
According to the results of the videoconference, the parties remained interested in continuing work on the implementation of multimodal projects and moving to the interregional level of negotiations among the countries of Central Asia and Southeast Europe.
