Working meeting with Uzbek delegation

In the framework of the visit to Turkmenistan of the delegation of Uzbekistan, headed by the Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Bahtiyor Rahimov, on May 31, 2022, a Turkmen-Uzbek working meeting was held at the “Türkmenawtoulaglary” Agency of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, where representatives of governmental structures and the private sector of the transport block took part.
During the working meeting, the sides exchanged information on the state of international road transport between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. Issues were discussed about returning to the traditional order of cargo transportation without replacing tractors on the neutral territory of Turkmenistan, as well as revising the rates of fees and charges on a parity basis. According to the agenda, the possibility of digitalization of cargo documents, a single window system and other topics to simplify customs procedures for cargo transportation were also discussed.
Representing the interests of the private sector of the transport sector, the National Association “Turkmen Logistics” made specific proposals for optimizing and simplifying the processes of organizing cargo transportation between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, in particular, the transition to digital document management of permit systems (permits), which regulates the passage of carriers through the territory of foreign states, introduction of a Single window to simplify payment procedures at border posts through cashless payments, as well as regulation and accounting of international transport documents, such as Carnet TIR, in the territories of both countries.
At the end of the bilateral meeting, the participants expressed confidence that all the agreements aimed at developing and improving the transport sector of the two countries would be implemented through joint efforts.
