Members of the community “Cooperation in transport and logistics in Central Asia” (TLP) held an online conference on August 31, 2022 on topical issues in the development of transport and transit cargo transportation using the potential of the countries of Central Asia. The discussion was attended by national coordinators from Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, as well as representatives of the Secretariat of the IGC TRACECA and TCA USAID. The conference was moderated by L.P. Kislyakova, chairwoman of the TLP.
Having made speeches at the conference, R. Seyidov and S. Amanova, vice-Chairmen of “Turkmen Logistics” Association, informed about the ongoing state policy in the field of transport. In particular, it was noted that work is underway to restore the ferry crossing with Azerbaijan and Russia, build new ships and increase the potential of representatives of “Turkmenbashi” port and other structures, and in order to carry out transit and free transit for foreign carriers as part of the “convoy”. In this regard, it was emphasized that the situation with obtaining Turkmen visas for drivers is normalizing. The Turkmen colleagues also informed that Turkmenistan, on a bilateral basis with Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, has agreements on a simplified procedure for issuing visas at the BCP.
On the issue of container transportation by dry cargo from the ports of Kazakhstan to Iran and further to Turkey, the conference participants noted that the most optimal route for the delivery of goods in the direction of Iran and Turkey is a land route, both by road and by rail through Turkmenistan.
