On May 23, 2022 a video-conference was held between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce. The conference was also attended by a representative of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Kingdom of Belgium, where the Turkmen Ambassador is simultaneously appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, as well as representatives of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, “Turkmen Logistics” National Association and other persons from the private sector of the economy of Turkmenistan.
In their welcoming speech, Project Manager of the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce Jamie Bakker and Head of Membership and International Cooperation Department of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan Maral Sarygulova expressed gratitude to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Kingdom of Belgium for organizing the meeting, and underlined importance of the meeting in strengthening trade relations between the chambers and business circles of the two states. This is the second meeting of this format since November 2021, when the first introductory meeting between the sides was organized.
It was noted that trade turnover between the countries for three months of 2022 increased by 3.5 times compared to the same period in 2021. The Kingdom of the Netherlands ranks 14th in distribution of foreign trade turnover of Turkmenistan. Most of the goods imported to Turkmenistan from the Netherlands are medical equipment and flower products, and oil and chemical products are exported. Also, representatives of “Turkmen Logistics” National Association, Dayhan society “Nurly meýdan” and other private entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan made presentations about the activities.
As a result, the participants noted the benefits of the meeting for both sides, expressed their hope for organization of in-person meeting in the future, and ended the event with good wishes.
