Representatives of Turkmen diplomatic missions abroad got acquainted with activities, opportunities and prospects of the transport and logistics sector of the country.

In the framework of implementation of the “Program for the Development of Transport Diplomacy of the President of Turkmenistan for 2022-2025”, on April 25, 2022, representatives of the diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan abroad met online with the Chairmen of the National Association “Turkmen Logistics” and OJSC “Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan”. The event was organized by the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Agency of Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan in order to familiarize the diplomatic corps of Turkmenistan with the experience, capabilities and prospects of the transport and logistics sector of Turkmenistan, to implement one of the key areas of the country’s foreign policy – transport diplomacy.
During the meeting, the Chairmen of the National Association “Turkmen Logistics” and OJSC “Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan” made introductory presentations to diplomats on the activities of their organizations, achievements, cooperation with foreign organizations, as well as on the opportunities available for further development of the country’s transport potential.
Diplomats and representatives of the transport and communication complex thoroughly discussed a number of key issues for the development and improvement of the country’s transport sector at the international level. Particular attention was paid to the cooperation of national transport institutions with priority international organizations such as FIATA, IRU, UNECE and other UN departments in the field of transport and logistics, as well as to the active involvement of representatives of the National Association “Turkmen Logistics” and OJSC “Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan » to participate in events organized by these international communities. In addition, the participants of the meeting considered a wide range of issues related to digitalization of the working processes of Turkmenbashy port and the intensification of cooperation between the ports of Baku and Aktau, promoting the development of green ports, the most optimal and relevant geographical directions for international transport and transit cooperation, in order to increase the volume of cargo flows through Turkmenistan.
Also, necessary measures were noted for implementation of major international and interregional projects and further intensification of functioning of transit and transport corridors of global importance and strengthening the position of Turkmenistan as a regional center of international transport and transit corridors.
In conclusion, having exchanged views, the meeting participants noted that the event in this format reflects objective realities and is timely and highly relevant for building up international cooperation in the field of transport and logistics.
