An interdepartmental conference was held on development of transit transportation and logistics of our country.

On March 24, 2022, the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan organized an interdepartmental conference on “Development of transit and logistics of our country, increasing attractiveness of transit routes across the country”, with the participation of representatives of Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, “Turkmen Logistics” Association, as well as teachers and students of the Institute of Engineering and Transport Communications of Turkmenistan, where they discussed numerous important issues related to determining directions for expanding conditions that facilitate acceleration of goods trade across the customs border, which are aimed at increasing attractiveness of transit corridors across the country and increasing importance in the region.
During the meeting, representatives of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers, in order to implement the tasks arising from the Program for the Development of Transport Diplomacy of the President of Turkmenistan for 2022-2025 and the Concept for the Development of Digital Economy in Turkmenistan for 2019-2025, noted the importance of Turkmenistan in joining additional Protocol to the electronic Waybill (e-CMR) of the International Convention on the Carriage of Goods (CMR). Special attention was also paid to the ongoing work on the creation of customs warehouses within Turkmenbashi International Seaport, cargo warehouses at International Airports and railway cargo stations, as well as their inclusion in the future in Intergovernmental Agreement on Dry Ports.
In their speeches, employees of the Customs Service of Turkmenistan presented strategic directions for improving the management of customs operations, digital technologies used in the work of customs service, and also showed the “Digital Customs system”, through video and presentations, which was installed at checkpoints across the State border of Turkmenistan.
In turn, representatives of “Turkmen Logistics” Association spoke about the importance of transit corridors through Turkmenistan in current conditions and about ways to increase the attractiveness of them, emphasizing that the work carried out in the sphere of transport and logistics provides positive results, as well as the opportunity to fully take advantage of the geographical privileges of our country.
The meeting ended in a businesslike and productive manner.
